Talisman MOPU Stor Dry Installation

Project Description:

The project is located in the Yme field, in the Egersund Basin in the southern part of the North Sea. The water depth is 93 meters. SBM Offshore was contracted from Talisman Energy for the installation of the MOPU.

ODL Scope of Work:

ODL was contracted to simulate the compression/spring characteristics of air bags to ensure proper energy absorption during the separation of the installation barge and the MOPU. The goal is to confirm the existing air bags are sufficient.

Key Details:

Building Hamriyah Pride barge model and Sponson barge model;

Developing spring model for the air bags and confirming compression/spring characteristics of air bags to ensure proper energy absorption;

Performing Hydrodynamic motions analysis based on the criteria provided;

Performing initial installation simulations of the barge system;

Performing detailed installation simulations to verify the sizing of air bags

Developing guidelines for the required sequence of jacking and ballasting to achieve proper clearances.
